Why so nice

When people are nice I tend to ask myself ‘eh nape dia ni baik sangat’ tapi lepas tu rasa kelakar sebab nape dia takleh baik? And gurl SEDEY don’t you deserve people being nice to you?

Maybe it’s because being a medical student and being used to blending into the wall, bagai angin lalu je pada manusia dan kadang2 dah camouflage habis pon kena sembur jugak that you get surprised when people are suddenly nice. It’s sad guys!

And it’s not just me; I’m sure my friends feel the same. Take today for example, I was walking to the entrance of the hospital and I saw the security. Flashed a smile just out of courtesy. All of a sudden - ‘Baru masuk kerja Dr? (Kdg orang panggil dr aku malas nak betulkan, amik sebagai doa je) Elok2 ye’ aku cam eh eh ramah #terharu. Pastu tengah duduk tengah2 wad tiba2 HO yang dah habis syif tegur kitorang: ‘Korang oncall sampai pukul berapa?’ mula2 ingatkan nak mintak favour, so kami jawabla sekian2. Pastu ‘Ohh. Balik nanti elok2 ye’ kitorang cam freeze kejap. Tak pernah lagi rasanya Dr suruh leklok ni. Lagi sekali aku ulang: SEDEY. Dan minit2 seterusnya aku dan kawan dok puji Dr tu dahla baik, cantik mashaAllah ENUF. Ini SEDEY.

Cuba la bermanis muka ataupun tegur medical student dekat hospital confirm dia akan cam ‘adekah aku bermimpi’ dan dia akan ingat dekat kau! Because we seldom get people being nice for no reason to us within the hospital grounds. But I guess I can only speak for myself and my friends because this is the only environment we know... (tapi dengar cite tempat lain lebih kurang aje lah basically Malaysia nih)

Tapi cam free je jadi baik ni. Ok sebenarnya subset of baik: ramah. Lemme rephrase: free je jadi ramah ni. Hahaha. Aku ni pemalu, nak go beyond a smile tu susahla sebenarnya. Tapi kalau junior/senior berani la nak tegur. Tapi mungkin sekarang boleh biasakan bagi salam pada security, pada HO/MO/specialist. The latter tu err sikit la sebab sejenis #gegel like I said but baby steps. Barulah Islam. Indah kan.

Berbunga hati ni sampai esok. A little kindness goes a loooong way.
